Book Lalanne A World of Poetry: Impossible Collection by Assouline
Description
The creative couple François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne are known for their poetic and fanciful sculptures that have become design icons. François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne are one of the most creative couples of the last century, celebrated for their surrealist sculptural works. Their pieces are as functional as they are whimsical, whether it's a hippo's belly that opens to reveal a bar, newts fused from unfolded leaves to form a fork, or a tangle of twigs intertwined to form a bench.
To celebrate the always enchanting and fanciful sculptures of François-Xavier and Claude, this volume, part of Assouline's Ultimate Collection, explores some of their most iconic pieces from their rich work. The author Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand, gallery owner and long-time friend of the couple, writes a magnificent text which traces the meteoric rise of the Lalannes, from their beginnings in Impasse Ronsin in Paris and their first exhibition noticed by gallery owner Alexandre Iolas , to their enduring legacy as one of design's most inventive and poetic masters.
Exclusive white gloves and canvas tote bag are included with every purchase of an Ultimate Collection book.
