About the Author
To mark the book launch, Johanna Ortiz and Lauren Santo Domingo collaborated to design a silk sarong, sold in an exclusive box alongside the book. Inspired by the nostalgia and joy of Cartagena, its alluring architecture and the endless sunsets of the Caribbean coast, it will be available in limited edition at ModaOperandi.com, JohannaOrtiz.com, Johanna Ortiz boutiques in Colombia and at Bal Assouline Harbor Shop ($350).
Lauren Santo Domingo is an entrepreneur, editor and co-founder of Moda Operandi. A prominent figure on the New York social scene, Lauren has become a style expert in the fashion world. Her love for Cartagena began with her first trip in 1998 and is stronger than ever two decades later thanks to her Colombian husband. Now a citizen herself, she shares her passion for the country with her children.
Johanna Ortiz is a creative ambassador for Colombia and the creative director of her eponymous lifestyle brand which has seen phenomenal growth and evolution in recent years. She calls Cartagena her second home, and the city's aesthetic has played a crucial role in her evolution as a fashion designer. Its national pride is represented in its brand's efforts to strengthen local development by generating 441 jobs (78% women), working with indigenous communities and building the capacity of vulnerable women in Colombia through its training program “Escuela JO”. The cultural traditions and biodiversity of his country are an essential part of his pieces. Ortiz lives with her husband and three sons in Cali, Colombia.
