Biarritz Basque Book by Assouline
Description
On the south coast of France, there is an idyllic town that has hosted famous visitors such as Napoleon III and Coco Chanel, but it is also a surfer's paradise. This captivating anomaly is none other than Biarritz. Imagine breathtaking landscapes, a rich cultural tapestry, and the aroma of traditional Basque cuisine lingering in the air. This top vacation spot, ideally located on the Atlantic coast, is your gateway to the villages of the Basque Country, treasures like Guéthary, Anglet, Bidart and Arcangues.
Biarritz exudes an old-world charm, intimately felt on the town's pelota courts and experienced while sailing among the wooden fishing boats moored in Guéthary. Craftsmanship is a centuries-old tradition in this region, promoting the artisanal process of making makhilas and championing century-old linen producers. Readers may come first for the waves of Biarritz Basque, but they will stay for the soul.
