A family story
It all began in the early 1930s. Bernard Grinbaum, Gary’s great-grandfather and a former saddler-upholsterer at Citroën, opened his upholstery workshop at 76 rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, the historic quarter of Paris furniture makers. In 1934, together with his wife Hélène, he opened the Galerie Bernard on Avenue de La Bourdonnais. Sacha Guitry was among his clients!
His son Charles, an upholsterer and decorator, took over after the Liberation with his wife Suzanne. He became what was then called an ensemblier. In 1964, the Galerie Bernard expanded to 101-103 Avenue de La Bourdonnais.
In 1996, Jacques Grinbaum founded JGS Decoration at 156 Boulevard Haussmann, around his bespoke sofas. In 2004, at 165 Boulevard Haussmann, JGS Decoration became the exclusive distributor of Fendi Casa in France, followed by Vladimir Kagan, Ralph Lauren Home, Baker…
Since 2017, the family has welcomed you at 159 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in a 250 m² showroom on three levels. From the Faubourg Saint-Antoine to the Faubourg Saint-Honoré: nearly a century of craftsmanship.
