"Lyons Den" is Victoria’s take on the classic toile de Jouy wallpaper, reimagined to tell the enchanting tale of an animal-led safari. This design brings a whimsical twist to the traditional pastoral scenes typically associated with toile, replacing them with a vibrant and imaginative narrative where animals take centre stage.
For the Lyons Den, I wanted to create a wallpaper perfect for both a child's nursery as well as for a grand hallway, something exquisite, suitable for the young and the young at heart.
A friend looking for her own child's nursery inspired this design. I began drawing during her pregnancy and many months of work later, the design was complete just in time for baby Maggies arrival. Her surname is Lyons, therefore Lions had to be the theme of the wallpaper. I am fascinated with Tanzania and the immense ecosystems of the Serengeti and Kitula national parks. We decided on this being the setting for the design. Loving the idea of incorporating hot air balloons into the wallpaper, an animal led safari started to shape the story. I love the traditional french toile style of wallpaper, so delicate, chic and intricate; it seemed the perfect way to layout and colourise it. The design escalated from there, with endless additions and tweaks, but the devil really is in the detail for this one. We now offer a personalisation service for our bestselling wallpaper where you can:
· Change the Initials in the flag of the hot air balloon
· Add a name or text to the bunting on the hot air balloon
· Change the sign ‘Lyons den to’ a short text of your choice such as “Names” room, commercial space name or distance from where you live to the Serengetti where the design is set
· Add letters of your choice to the number plate of the monkeys in a jeep.
Once you have placed your order simply send us an email; victoria@victoriasandersdesign.com with the personalisation you wish to include. We will send you a proof to approve before the wallpaper is sent to print.
